Of dried flowers, plants and herbs are another way to enjoy cut flowers. If these plants are from your garden, store bought or picked wild they are a lasting memory of nature. Did you know that drying flowers is an art that can do yourself?
Introduction to the craft
Fortunately, there are many Flowers that dry well, so experiment with the flowers that you like. No crop plants grow until they are completely dry of any rain or dew. Pick them at the base of the stem for long periods in the organization. Place cut flowers in a warm, dry area away from direct light. The simplistic method drying is air drying, where the plants are hung from a wire to dry naturally.
Drying time varies considerably depending on temperature air and moisture. Once the drying is complete should be stored in a place that will not need to move frequently because they are delicate. Never store in plastic containers or plastic bags as you sweat and putrefaction. Keep them in a cardboard box with ventilation holes. If the flowers are preserved using silica gel, applying a thin layer of gel at the bottom of the box.
Drying Methods
For most of drying large quantities of air drying is the best method. Strip unwanted leaves. Bunch of flowers to each other by a rubber band. Do not stack too many together or allowing the flower heads nearly touched. Some heads great are the driest individually.
If tangled leaves and flowers, along with the squad that will remain in that position when it dries. Hung suspended hooks up to a place with air circulation. The drying time is anywhere from a few days to several weeks. You could say they are ready when they feel very sharp. Easy!
A very different process for dried flowers involves the use of silica gel. It is the result of retention of spectacular blooms and appear almost sweet. The silica gel (like rock salt) should be of fine granules. Can be reused countless times. This method works for flower heads. Once the head of the flower is completely dry, it can begin. Egg cartons or small plastic pots are ideal as a waiting area for the gel and the head of the flower.
The cans can be used for a lot of flowers. The carton of eggs or pot should be filled 1 / 3 full of gel. At the top flower and begin with the outer petals and work in gently spoon the gel between each petal. Do this until the head is completely covered.
Cover and check on them in 2 days. Remove the head when the flowers dry to prevent hair from drying out. Large flower heads sometimes takes 5 days. Be very gentle in removing flower. Excess gel can be removed with a fine watercolor brush. To revive spray flower color a little wax polish on it.
A suitable method for the drying of large flowers such as sunflowers and peonies is to dry flat. They garden on a wire sieve and the rest of the objects involved in the creation of a space. A Again, the drying time can be 2 to 5 days. Another drying method used in emergency situations or microwave oven.
The trick is to set the temperature in a conventional oven at its lowest setting. Drying from 30 to 60 minutes. A microwave oven must be very low. Check the plants frequently. Try once every couple of minutes.
Glycerin is the perfect substance for the conservation of plants such as mimosa and Gypsophila. Boil about 2 liters of water and add a tablespoon of salt for dissolve in water. After the water cools a bit pour into a pitcher. Stand the bottle in a bucket as a support for the plant. Stand the stems in warm water for 24 hours. Make a mixture of 1 part glycerin to 2 parts warm water.
Change the water with this new mix old and liabilities of the plant on the same day to 10. Leaves looks darker and feels slightly sticky when ready. In recent years, dried floral arrangements have become popular and beloved. You can arrange flowers in a container of your choice. You can press the flowers with a flower press instead of using the drying methods mentioned above in order to show their flat flowers.
